At Telfords, we’ve always believed in the power of community and the importance of offering equal opportunities to everyone.
Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Jonathan, who joined us through People First for a period of work experience.
People First is an independent advocacy charity that works tirelessly across the North of England, championing fairness and equality.
Their mission is to ensure that people, whatever challenges they may face, are supported to understand their rights and to be heard. They stand alongside families,
individuals, and communities, challenging the label of “vulnerable” and empowering people to take their place in society with confidence.
For us at Telfords, this collaboration was about more than offering work experience—it was about creating space
for inclusion, respect, and family values to extend beyond our team and into the wider community.
Over the last 8 weeks, Jonathan immersed himself in a wide range of roles across the dealership. From welcoming customers at the front desk and shadowing our service advisors,
to assisting in the parts department with ordering and collecting parts, his enthusiasm shone through. He also spent time supporting quality control on vehicles and maintaining standards on the forecourt.
Every task he took on, Jonathan approached with determination, positivity, and a genuine willingness to learn. What stood out most was not only his ability to adapt to each new role,
but also how naturally he blended into the team. Opportunities like these aren’t just beneficial for individuals like Jonathan—they’re invaluable to us as well. His kindness, patience, and strong work
ethic reminded us of the importance of treating everyone equally, not just as colleagues but as members of a wider community.
